    BRTRC is seeking a Welder, Combination, Maintenance (SCA) to support welding trade tasks for SPAWAR Systems Center Atlantic (SPAWARSYSCEN Atlantic) Land Systems Integration (LSI) Division efforts to restore or otherwise integrate C4ISR systems on multiple tactical vehicle platforms. 

    Responsibilities

    The Welder, Combination, Maintenance performs variety of welding trade functions such as fabricating or repairing products, such as mechanical parts according to layouts, blueprints or work orders, using brazing and a variety of arc and gas welding equipment. Tasks include:

    • Installing or repairing any of a variety of systems and equipment on tactical platforms using blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications
    • Using specialized tools, such as dyes, to locate and repair cracks and using inspection equipment and gas torch, may perform repairs only and be required to pass employer performance tests or standard tests to meet certification standards of governmental agencies or professional and technical associations.
    • Welding metal parts together, using both gas welding or brazing and any combination of arc welding processes, performs related tasks such as thermal cutting and grinding, repairs broken or cracked parts, fills holes and increases size of metal parts, positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding.

    In general, the work of the welder requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.

    Qualifications

    • DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain (clearance preferred)
    • Education: High School Diploma or GED. Must pass employer performance tests, standard governmental agencies certifications, and professional and technical association certifications. Qualified for specific material and processes in accordance with American Welding Society Welding Handbook.

      Experience: Four (4) years of experience, to include: electric arc, gas shielded arc, and gas welding.

      Proficient at welding as follows: executing welds in all positions, with all types of metals and alloys, in various shapes including pipes, structural forms, plates, sheet metal, bar stock, machinery and equipment.
