  • Overview

    BRTRC, a government contractor specializing in the Department of Defense, has an opening for an Air Force Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Technology Analyst to support the Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) at Los Angeles Air Force Base.  The Air Force SBIR Program is designed to foster technological innovation by small businesses. The goals of the program are to foster participation by minority and disadvantaged firms in technology innovation; facilitate technology insertion into Air Force acquisition programs; and increase private sector commercialization of Air Force R&D.  This position will act as a technical resource to support the Air Force SBIR Commercialization Readiness Program working with Air Force, Major Defense Contractor, and small businesses subject matter experts in planning and facilitating transition of SBIR technologies into Air Force programs.  This position is contingent on contract award.

    Responsibilities

    Essential duties and responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:

    • Assist with development, documentation, and facilitate execution of SMC annual SBIR topic generation process
    • Promote awareness of Air Force CRP to enable SBIR transition opportunities
    • Meet regularly with SMC Programs to gather and understand technical and/or capability needs of AF customers and PoRs
    • Leverage background in the acquisition process to assist in identifying SBIR project results with high potential for transition to AF Programs of Record (PoR) or into operational use as part of a prototype system
    • Establish and facilitate enhanced business/transition planning activities
    • Gather information and collaborate with SMC program management offices, Air Force Research Labs, major defense contractors, and small business representatives
    • Support for and participation in technology exchange meetings and workshops as required

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree
    • Technical/engineering expertise in space systems
    • Background in the acquisition process
    • Excellent communicator willing to work in a team environment
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
    • Competence with MS Office tools
    • Ability to develop and execute strategic and operational plans and policy
    • Availability to travel as required to support SBIR and CPP objectives
    • Ability to obtain DoD security clearance required
